Intelligent Pig Inspection System (UT)

We conduct reliable detection of defects on the inside and outside of pipelines economically and in a short period of time.

Ultrasonic method (UT) can be used to detect defects on the inside and outside surfaces of pipelines from its inside.

Features

  • This method enables long-distance pipelines to be inspected efficiently in a short period of time.

  • The inside of the pipeline must be filled with liquid for this inspection method.

  • We can measure accurately the location, size, and depth of defects on interior and exterior surfaces of pipelines with this technique.

Benefits

  • We can also recommend repair methods and handle everything from inspection to repair (inner lining, incoming pipeline repair).

Major Application

  • Pipelines for which incidental preparation costs are excessive in conducting inspections, including buried pipelines and submarine pipelines.

  • Long-distance pipelines with limited inspection period

This method is applicable for inside and outside inspection of 6-to-56-inch pipelines.

Specifications

  • Pig inspection machine (manufactured by PII and RTD)

  • Specifications (Instrument Performance) Depth ±0.5mm / Size ±10mm / Position ±0.2m / Bend 1.5DR

Processes and Methods

  • Either the magnetic flux leakage method (MFL) or the ultrasonic method (UT) is used depending on the purpose and conditions. We will conduct interviews in advance and propose the most appropriate method.

Features of UT Inspection Machines

  1. Ultrasonic waves are emitted perpendicularly from the ultrasonic sensor to the pipe wall, the propagation time of ultrasonic echoes reflected from the inner and outer surfaces of the pipeline is measured, and the distance between the ultrasonic sensor and the pipe inner surface (standoff) and the pipe wall thickness are directly measured from the propagation time difference to determine the size, depth, and location of corrosion loss.

  2. It is not suitable for gas pipelines where water is not preferred, because it requires water or oil as a medium for ultrasonic waves.

  3. We can measure defects in absolute values and distinct between internal and external corrosion.

  4. If there are serious defects, we provide a preliminary report at the time of measurement, conduct data analysis, and after 30 to 40 days submit a final report.
